About SAS Nagar Police

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District has been carved out of areas falling in Ropar and Patiala district as 18th District of Punjab on 14th April 2006. Because of its connectivity with the union territory of Chandigarh. The district has been formed to achieve growth of development as this area is emerging as Major I.T. Hub of Northern India. Special emphasis has been made by the state government to make this city the best place to live in the Punjab. The city also has many international sporting venues consisting of a magnificent cricket stadium, hockey stadium, indoor stadiums & golf course. An International Airport and projects like World Trade Centre, Aerocity are also coming up. The district includes Mohali, Kharar and Derabassi Teshils. It is located in the north east part of Punjab. The District includes total 20 Police Stations, 9 PPs and 2 CIA i.e. Kharar & Mubarkpur Derabassi; including 383 villages. The important townships in the district are Kharar, Kurali, Mohali, Zirakpur, Derabassi & Lalru. Kharar block is the biggest sub-division/unit of the district with 7 Police Stations, 3 PPs. Punjab Police has recently set up the State Level Offices i.e. Cyber Crime Police Station, Forensic Science Laboratory and State Crime Police Station in Phase-4 (59), Vigilance Bureau Office in Sector-68, Intelligence Office & Special Task Force (STF) in Sector-77, NRI & Women Cell, Community Policing, 181, 112 helpline and Punjab Housing Cooperation in Phase7 (61), all located at SAS Nagar, Mohali.
